Goings on at the Because We Cannery

More additions to the Three Rings Space (The Nautilus)

We are steadily adding more to the Three Rings space as we roll out the final Phase of the project that is "The Nautilus".

We are steadily adding more to the Three Rings space as we roll out the final Phase of the project that is "The Nautilus".

Over the last two weeks we designed and built......

Fancy Nautilus CPU holders. We made one to go under each desk:

Fancy cubbies for each desk.

They slant so they can nest exactly into the desk, and they are two sided, so the owner can move them to either side of the desk:

Huge World Map and fancy Map Frame

We found this enormous old world looking map for Three Rings so they can plot their world domination. We mounted it on a cork-like backing so they can easily use push pins on it... and then we made it a much needed frame. The frame still gets a 3D carved plate on the top middle. But you get the idea:

We even made little decorative pieces that look like brass to give it a little more fancy flair.

Then, finally we did some 3D carvings out of Trupan.

The stuff carves amazingly with the routing table, and is incredibly light. We found out today that Trupan is sustainably harvested, an added bonus. It does come from Chile, but at least the trees they are cutting for it are farmed for that purpose and replanted, so it's not as bad as many other plywoods and press boards available.

Here is the carved Trupan:

The model was made in Maya, and the Trupan is a piece of 3/4", so the detail can't get too deep.

To bring the detail out more we did a dry brushing technique using a darker color on the bottom and a metallic gold on top:

These "medallions" (as we are calling them) are getting hung on the "arches" (again... as we are calling them) that we have made throughout the space.

When they are all complete they will span the gangway / hallway that runs down the middle. It's looking pretty cool, indeed.
